Artist, Emily McIntosh, uses a unique painting technique to create contemporary equine art. Through simple lines and use of white space, she forms horses playing at liberty as well as performing haute ecole dressage.

| Ever since I can remember I have always loved horses and scribbled images of them whenever possible (at school while taking notes, or with my toe in the dirt, anyway I could). As a horse trainer and instructor at Serendipity Stables (www.serendipitystablessite.com), I am constantly surrounded by these beautiful creatures. Since I specialize in dressage it is especially important to have a strong understanding of the horses biomechanics and I use this knowledge in both my training and artwork. I love transforming an awkward gangly 3 year old into balanced, happy athlete. In the same way, I love to transform a blank canvas.
Currently most of my paintings are as simple as possible. Often times, less is more, -a theme that repeats in both horse training and artwork (really dressage riding is artwork too - just a different medium :) I want to be able to create the idea of a horse and let the viewer connect the dots (or paint splashes), using white space so the movement of the horse can come through.... |
