San Miguel de Allende art Here you will see the work from my recent travel to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. What an inspiring town to paint in. Watercolor was the medium of choice.

ENCAUSTIC PAINTINGS Encaustic painting , also known as hot wax painting , involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid/paste is then applied to a surface—usually prepared wood, though canvas and other materials can be used.

About

Diana Zimmerman
The simplest thing can inspire me if I am open to it. Often, I start a painting out of plain desire to express myself. My work reflects the state I am in, rather than a specific layed out plan. For many years now I have been exploring many different media, acrylic and watercolor being my favorite ones. Living as a native German in Boulder, Colorado, I have studied with great local artists of the Boulder/Denver area. Nature, music and dancing feed my spirit. My art has evolved into an outlet, which satisfyies my longing to keep the soul alive. I believe that art, no matter what kind, brings positive energy to those who are open to it.

re-use and recycle
I love to find old treasures and play with them-make them be a useful part of this word again-this is possible through art. I find it exciting to wonder about the history of things (clothes, jewlery, art, etc.) Where have they been? If they could see and feel, what would they have wittnessed?  I found this antique window frame (which is the base for this piece) in Gold Hill - maybe some old miners have leaned their tired bodies against it after a long day of work.
