| BIO/ARTIST STATEMENT
Born in Maryland and raised in several states across America, Claire Polansky counts her constantly changing visual, aural, and emotional landscape among her artistic influences. She is an artist, educator, and writer. All three fields speak to one another and often reveal to her: a society in discord. Thus her art serves as a visual discourse that fosters social and ecological awareness through unsettling imagery. She often borrows artistic techniques from the renaissance such as glazing over imprimaturas (underpaintings) or drawing on toned ground, while often incorporating natural and recycled materials on non-traditional media. She is currently exploring methods of greening the arts.
Claire holds a Masters Degree degree in Expressive Arts Therapy and Counseling psychology from Prescott College in Arizona, where Transpersonal Psychology and Eco-Psychology was an integral part of her coursework and training.
