| Elizabeth Jackson Hall is a Toronto artist who has a long relationship with Prince Edward County. With one foot in the west end neighborhood of her childhood and the other on the family farm outside Picton, she paints portraits and plein air, mostly from life. The daughter of an English nun and a HiFi wizard, she is both religious and possibly eccentric. The Ontario College of Art and the University of Toronto consumed most of her time and money during her twenties, and she graduated a little older and wiser in 1996 and 1998 respectively. Having carefully cultivated no other profession, she has painted full time since school’s end, presenting her work at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, local studio tours and the Mad Dog gallery in Prince Edward County. Commissioned portraits (private and corporate), landscapes, and still life left some room for figurative works that tell a story (but not enough). In 2004, she also worked in the area of church restoration with Carlos Nunes of Fine Painting and Design... |
