| | My background is in the theatre-I am intrigued by characters –how and why people do the things they do. Like an actress portraying different characters, I instinctively search for the unique emotional life of the characters I paint. An acting coach of mine once taught me an exercise where I’d choose a painting, then create a scene where I, as the character, would end up in the exact position, and emotional state as the character in the painting.
