About

Métaportrait
Ghassan Ghazal is a visual artist, working across a variety of formats ranging from painting to sculpture to installation, performance and conceptual art. He was born in Beirut, in 1961, and was exiled from the country through the turbulent years of the Lebanese Civil War, leaving in 1979 for Canada and returning in 2006. Particularly preoccupied with the transformation of symbols of violence and coercion beyond representation, his multidisciplinary practice has taken the form of diverse research projects conflating image, space and perception. Performance 2011 Corps-V(alise) This performance, metaphorically speaking, has the merit of bringing together its diverse temporal and physical experiences to a same place of action and reflection, the body in this case. Here, the migratory nature of the body as well as the ethical mass of its memory are preserved in each and every one of us in the shape of a "Body - Luggage ''. Furthermore, the abstract dimension projects the image of a self-activated memory within the realm of the elapsed time.

(In)tolerance
