Artist directory :: Jane Penman Jewelry Designs

Jane Penman Necklaces are organic stone necklaces in which I personally cut the stone in a free form and low profile technique that I developed. I surround the stone in art work of silver, creating Art Jewelry that is "LANDSCAPE INSIDE ARCHITECTURE".

Stone Art Jewelry My Art Jewelry necklaces feature unique stones that I have organically cut and shaped. They are then finished with polishing that is low sheen. Some of the polishing is achieved with polishing wheels and belts on lapidary equipment.

Smalls Jane Penman necklaces are scaled down in the "Smalls Collections". There is a smaller stone, tube, and cord. Because of the size there are some special designs.

Singles  Singles, or single stone necklaces are my standard necklaces. It's the stone, a tube for the cord, and the cord. I use silver that is heavier than the norm for both the bezel that wraps the stone and for the silver sheet that becomes the back of the necklace.

Beach Rocks Before I began cutting and shaping stones, my first necklaces featured beach rocks. With the vast array and infinite subtlities of beach rocks, I continue to make necklaces with beach rocks. I was influenced by growing up in Seattle with regular trips to the Pacific and Puget Sound beaches.

Then I went to study for a week that summer (and the next summer) with Marilynn Nicholson at the Taos School of Metalsmithing and Lapidary Design, www.taosjewelryschool.com . Here I got my introduction to setting stones.....and buying them, as Taos has a great cut stone store (as do Santa Fe and Alberquerque). Another highlight for me was taking Master Symposiums with Andy Cooperman in 2008 at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Art in San Francisco, www.revereacademy.com . More recently, I am pleased to have Dana Cassara of Danaca Design in Seattle as my education resource. Whatever my...
