| I began drawing as a child, drawing comic book superheroes, and then sports figures. In elementary school I drew the Simpsons, and created a stir at school when kids starting running home at lunchtime to get $3 from their mothers to buy a drawing. I was brought into the principal's office and commanded to stop my business. Shortly thereafter I began drawing on the walls of the school. I was published twice in Sports Illustrated for Kids at 13 years old. Around this time I drew portraits of Tupac Shakur, in pen, pencil, and pastel, and was blessed years later to meet his mother, at which time she signed all of the portraits of her son. At Berkeley High School, I had a weekly comic strip in the school newspaper, entitled, "The B. High Years." I also published sports drawings in the paper. At Oakland Tech high school, I also produced topical illustrations for the newspaper and designed the school mascot for the yearbook.
