| Artist’s Statement
Jinari Lee Mountain
BA., BSc., Dip. HC I am always striving to express deep beauty, or something which evokes deeper understanding of ourselves, each other and/or the natural world. Whether a peice of the art brightens and attracts joyous interaction with, or whether it expresses the sub-terrain of our soul, it is always seeking to uplift. Sometimes the expression, like the journey, is full of whimsy and delicious simplicity. While other times it is confronting, murky and challenging. I revel in uncovering that which at first glance disturbs, frightens, repulses and aggravates us, only to be struck with deeper layers of humbling insight. Even if all we see is darkness and no way out, facing this truth may itself be beautiful. During the process of making art I am often amazed at how my darkness reveals light and my sorrow finds joy, and it is my hope that the viewer can share in some of this experience for themselves.
