Digital Scenery This is my experiment into the realm of digital 3D scenery. The software I'm using is Vue Esprit and Terragen. Any post-work is done in Photoshop. Note: Some of these look very photorealistic, but keep in mind that these are not photographs.

Traditional Media When life becomes too complex, give me a pencil and a piece of paper...

About

John Wegner Artworks
Hi, I'm John and welcome to my website! This is the place where I can show off my creative side. I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in St. Cloud, MN and currently live outside of Minneapolis. Since before I can remember, I've been able to draw. It wasn't like I woke up one day and decided to learn how. I truly believe that my ability to draw, and my entire creative side in general, is a gift that I was born with. So I guess you could say this is my chance to share it. Pencils seemed to be what I was most comfortable with when I was growing up, and even though I want to branch out and experiment with other media, I always seem to fall back on what I know best---kind of like a best friend to rely on if all else fails. I am still in the process of refining this site and adding more work to my portfolio. Check back as often as you'd like, and I hope you enjoy what you see! Thanks for stopping by!

2 of 2
Well, it's the end of an era... I finally finished the 2nd and final commission of this drawing! Only have a couple more minor projects to do and then I'm going to start oil painting! Sky's the limit!
Selling my 9x12
Well, after working with the Wacom 9x12 for a while I've opted to sell it for a smaller one. So hopefully by this fall I'll have the medium sized Intuos4 5x8 instead. That one might be a little more comfortable to work with.
A new medium
In between working on Legolas, I've been brainstorming ideas for my first couple of illustrations using Photoshop and my Wacom Intuos3 tablet. Man this is fun stuff if I can get the hang of it.... and it could open up a whole new area of art for me.
Break time!
I finally have a little bit of a break! I've started playing around with Vue again, trying to create a new scene. I'm trying to create icebergs, but for some reason I can't get the material to look right on the big ones, which may be a good thing because it almost looks more like a fantasy scene now.
Finished!
My latest portrait is finished! I still have a few more to do, but I hope the client likes this!
