| "There are emotions and sensations that are too difficult for me to describe in words. These feelings build up inside of myself, and eventually they form images. When this happens, I start painting. Through painting, I learn who I am."
Artist: Miki Nishida Goerdt
The artist was born in Saitama, Japan. She completed her bachelor degree in Art and Psychology at Wartburg College, Iowa. She has earned her master degree in Social Work along with Advance Graduate Certificate in Art Therapy at Marywood University, Pennsylvania.
She specializes in oil painting and shadow box making. She has conducted art therapy with dialysis patients, terminally ill patients, and those who suffer from mental illnesses. She has also completed two mural projects in hospitals. Recently she has started jewelry making.
