| I am a recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design’s Natural Science Illustration Certificate Program (2010) and am currently taking children’s book illustration classes at RISD. My interest in art began when I was 6 years old and newly immigrated from the former Republic of Yugoslavia. In an attempt to teach me new words my first grade teacher, who had no knowledge of my language, would draw pictures on the chalkboard and then say and write the words under them. I was so fascinated with drawing that I would spend most of my effort trying to render a better illustration of the image created by my teacher. Thus began a life long love of art.
After raising my three wonderful children I started taking art classes. I love to paint children’s portraits and have taken first place and the people’s choice award for my portrait paintings in the New England Traditions Art Show in 2009. I have written and illustrated 2 children’s picture book dummies and am currently working hard trying to find a publisher... |
