She moved to Champaign, Illinois in her early twenties and eventually raised her daughter there while she studied painting at Parkland College and the University of Illinois. In 1999, she received her BFA from the University of Illinois. She relocated to California in 2006 to pursue her graduate degree at California State University Long Beach (CSULB) where she received her MFA in 2009. Her current focus is on landscape.
