| Paul Stolte is a self-taught sculptor and lifelong dabbler in all that is creative. He spent 30 years in corporate America before finally giving in to his strong desire to make art his profession. The former Chicagoan moved to Northern California in 1985 and to San Diego in 1995. His artistic journey has taken him from painting and mosaics, to ceramic, wire and mixed media sculpture. His work is whimsical, yet classy.
Paul’s attraction to the human face and figure are evident in his work. Most recently inspired by Alexander Calder, he found the simplicity of a line drawing could be achieved through wire. Paul’s sculpture is evocative of his view of the human spirit -- fluid, exuberant, quirky and fun.
Paul's art can currently be seen in San Diego at Studio Maureen's in South Park, the Sculptors Guild-studio 36 in Balboa Park, The Art Institute also in Balboa Park and at Thistle Gallery in Douglas, MI.
