| All my life I have been drawn to sketching and painting. As I grew older I decided to focus on doing what just feels right and gave me the most satisfaction. As a preadolescent, I used oils for all my painting projects. As an adult, watercolors better reflected the feelings I had for the subjects I painted. I found that I gravitated towards flowers, and I have spent the last few years paying attention to the mood that watercolor can evoke. It is through this journey that I have found a unique viewpoint that has taken me through photo-realism to representational to abstraction.
Off and on, I have dappled in acrylic, which gives incredible vibrancy and excitement that, some paintings demand.
By first drawing my subject in great detail, I am then freed up to paint very expressively, quickly and intuitively. Through the act of drawing, I become very familiar and almost at one with the subject. I am then able to transcend the subject by changing the color and sometimes the form thus something totally... |
| New paintings Weather is warming up a bit and I am rethinking subject matter to paint. | | Gotta Paint Great day last Thursday painting with Carol, Venus and of course, Stan. I started this painting by taping the paper, then I drew just some of the flowers in the arrangement. Next, I put a wash down of pure water and while the paper was still damp, I started putting in some of the local color. |
