| I was raised in a home with the influence of art surrounding me. My mother was a professional artist and always encouraged artistic expression, both at home and at school. I would accompany my mother to local art shows, and went along when she needed to transport her artwork from one place to another. As most children do, I would take the day to day activities that were going on around me for granted. Occasionally, I would dabble a bit here and there with my own artistic abilities, but never took them too seriously. I took art in school, but never with the goal of becoming a professional artist myself. It was just a natural gift that was there to serve me from time to time as a means of self-expression.
Only later in my life did I begin to realize that I had something worthwhile to offer others, if only I would take the time to develop it.
It is often said that, "The eyes are the mirrors of the soul." If you can capture the eyes of a subject, then you can catch the true likeness and essence of that person.... |
