| Painting has taught me to notice and appreciate the beauty all around me - the way the light falls on an object, the vibrant colors and various textures found in nature. My inspiration comes from my travels, my garden and everyday objects around my home, as I try to find and express the beauty in the commonplace.
For many years, I owned and operated my own bookkeeping business in San Diego. In 2003, I took my first watercolor painting class and quickly fell in love with creating art. I began to devote more and more time to painting, taking various classes and workshops, reading numerous books on composition and technique, and entering local exhibitions. In 2008 I retired from my business and now devote my time to pursuing my interest in art.
Although watercolor has long been my medium of choice, I have recently been putting more emphasis on painting in oils. Oil is a different feel and I find that it requires a very different approach, but I am enjoying the challenge.... |
