| Karen Levangie has been an artist since she first discovered finger paints and crayons. She made art her passion while in school, but did not pursue it beyond high school due to unfortunate circumstances. Three years ago, she found herself returning to her art as therapy, and re-discovered her passion. Karen believes that art is an experience for all to share in, be it in the creation or the appreciation. "Abstract" has been used to define the style of the bulk of Karen's work, but she sees it as more than a label. Her paintings are emotions set to colour and designed to make the viewer think and feel, and to have their own journey of interpretation. She has said that she "works at giving external form to internal emotional experiences." Each work is an experience unique to the individual who views it, and this is what she hopes her work achieves. Karen works primarily in two different mediums: oils and acrylics. While each have their own unique style, they also maintain her characteristic flow.... |
| Happy Spring and Show Time! This week coincides with my 25% off Fall Sale. | | First Annual Fall Sale All artwork for sale is now 25% off from Sept. 24 - Oct. 8, 2011. | | Uxbridge Lion's Art in the Park 2011 This past weekend (August 20/21) I attended the 17th annual Uxbridge Lion's Art in the Part at Elgin Park. The park, established in 1873, is a beautiful park full of beautiful, old trees, and reminded me of High Park in Toronto, but on a smaller scale. Despite the rain on Sunday, the weekend was wonderful. | | Markham's Art in the Park 2011 This past weekend (July 16 &17, 2011) I participated in my first show, Art in the Park Markham, selling my work. Although I have been painting for many years, it has taken me this long to build up the confidence to actually go out an peddle my wares. With the support and encouragement of my husband, family and friends, I finally managed to put together a selection of works (listed under the "Art for Sale" gallery) that I felt confident enough to bring with me to try and sell. |
