Welcome!

 | | The advent of my new series...The Layer Series...just four pieces into the work so far. The Layer Series represents all the layers of Life, what we add to our sense of self, and what little is taken away. I used iconography from The Container Series, the red and yellow pitchers, and the bold sunflowers and poppies, to make a mini-oil painting. |
 | | This body of work is based on the intersection of art and psychology; my inspiration has been Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces and The Power of Myth . There are 'predictable' steps on the Hero's Journey...and we all, individually and collectively, cycle through these steps on our journey through life. The titles of the works in this series begin to put shape to those steps for me. |
 | | Each painting in this series is a simple, floral still life with a container of some sort. The idea of a Container or vase came to me when I was daydreaming of a well, and how a vessel is necessary to contain whatever we lift from the well. There is something deeply satisfying about drawing from the inexhaustible wellspring of our soul. |
 | | I was one of those serious kids who actually grew up to be more fun as an adult! The serious nature is still there; I have been long driven, and satisfied, by my need for purpose and meaning in my work. This body of work was my exploration into Stillness and Pathways …places to listen, look, breathe, and be. My studio is a place with lots of windows and quiet. |

A couple of times each year, Gallery 110 juries in new artist members...and then hosts an exhibition of their work. Photo is of me with one of my favorite fellow aritsts, Molly Hueffed.
| | Stephanie Hargrave Rocks the House! Who says that an art critique has to be painful?!
Guest artist Stephanie Hargrave held court as we listened, laughed, and learned at our October session. Stephanie provided wonderful insights for each as we took turns placing our work in front of the group for comments and ideas. We meet in the classroom at the Up Front Gallery, artEAST Art Center , in Issaquah one evening a month. | | The Layers Series And, so it begins...my new series! This series incorporates the iconography from two of my earlier series...the still lifes with pitchers and flowers, as well as the seascapes. Basically, the surface is collage; a miniature oil painting is the final step. My "brand" is Beauty & Curiosity, grounded in good technique. |
