| I am a Journey bird, and I admire the snail. The bird is always ready to go and let deja vu take over once it arrives. The snail, on the other hand, travels with his house - no uprooting as he glides on his doodles. But both are on a journey, and we are all on a journey too, running through the hours as if we know the exact time of arrival .... therefore the quest in my paintings is how and what we take on our life's journey.
I mostly paint women, (nee´ ladies), as I identify with our vanities, sisterhood and motherhood. To be strong and thin, soft and wise and to follow what is left of a dream after 50! It took many years for me to realize that only I can take this big step in life, doing "my thing - whatever my thing is" and in a way it still feels every day as if I have stepped off the end of the world...refusing to let my dreams go.
To follow and paint from inside this dream that God created in me has no map, no corporation behind me, no lipstick every day and no social status, and yet there... |
