| I was born and raised on a mountain top in Santa Cruz, California. My most vivid childhood memories are of staring up at sun drenched madrone trees as I walked the paths through the forest, their leaves glowing lime green against a deep blue sky. I fell in love with the colors around me, and that love has grown stronger through the years. I continue to be captivated by the beauty that surrounds us every day, and seek to share this excitement with others through my work.
While attending Humboldt State University, I studied painting with the wonderful instructor Leslie Price, and drawing with the great William Anderson. They both helped me to open my mind, revealing the possibility that I could capture the beauty I see in the world with strokes of paint. I recieved my BA from HSU in spring 2003.
My paintings are an homage to color. I see beautiful color everywhere, from the purple greys of an ominous raincloud to the vibrant orange of grape leaves in the fall, and I am driven to try and express my love... |
