Peggy Lee Caballero

In the Rocky Mountains' Mile High city of Denver, Colorado, PeggyLee Anderson was born of Danish and Indian heritage.  She grew up in an environment where things were created for fun and necessity.  Toys, clothes, paper dolls, etc.
Having discovered fabrics at an early age, Peggy started sewing her own garments while still in grade school and constructed her first quilt top in 1974.
Also in 1974 Peggy learned silversmithing from a Navajo Indian who reproduced museum pieces for vault safekeeping of originals.  Eventually moving to California in 1982, she took up goldsmithing, designing and fabrication of jewelry.  In 1987 she earned her Graduate Gemologist degree from Santa Monica, Ca.

Music has always been an essential part of life for Peggy.  She has played piano, flute, guitar, electric bass and cello.  Peggy is also an accomplished vocalist.  Currently Peggy studies and plays traditional Flamenco Guitar.

The love of color and geometric shapes resurfaced with her passion for quilting.  One thing led to another and in 1999 she acquired a Gammill Long Arm Quilting Machine.

Creation of Art Quilts, Textile Design and Professional machine quilting has taken precedence over her artistic endeavors for the past eleven years.

Peggy has taught several workshops on trupunto, floral pigment transfers and creative quilting.  With a solid foundation of quilt construction and interest in fabric dying with pigment from natural materials such as flowers and leaves, Peggy creates stunning art quilts that build on her love of textiles.

Peggy's quilts have been featured on Simply Quilts on HGTV and in numerous shows where she has received honorable mention and awards for her work with textiles.

Her work is currently exhibited in Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.  Also the Bachand Gallery at Mahoney Farms in Sudbury MA.

Peggy's quilts are located with private owners throughout North America, Mexico and Europe.

In her work Peggy often uses contemporary ideas combined with strong traditional technique.  She continues to explore new ways to share her love of textiles as an art form.

Peggy's other loves are equestrian sports and playing flamenco guitar.  If you look closely you will often find images of guitars in several of her art quilts.

Peggy lives in Crest, CA with her husband, two Pomeranians, 1 cat, 10 cockatiels and 2 horses.
