The International Ambassador’s Mission (I AM) has been ambassadors in the North Philadelphia community for the past fifteen years. Located in the heart of North Central Philadelphia, our mission is to help empower youth, their families, and adults through mentorship, spiritual development and sports education. Our goal is to provide social and economical opportunities for youth and their families.
In 1991, I AM responded to a need to teach disadvantage families, youth and adults basic life skills needed for a successful transformation in an ever-changing society. Through adult workshops, our youth sports and education, after school programs and cultural enrichment, I AM has serviced over 5,000 youth and their families. Today, our mission includes a comprehensive Sports Fitness and Wellness Program and a Gender Specific Program for both girls and boys.
Our core values are grounded in a Family Focused Outreach Model that consists of four components: family, community, education and spiritual soundness. We believe stressing togetherness and the importance of family sets the footprint for a healthier society. We also believe that a community built on collective work and responsibility can serve as a catalyst for a thriving and productive community. By creating an environment where traditional and non traditional learning is encouraged we believe that hope for the future generation can be realized. Lastly, when all these factors work together through spiritual soundness, we believe human development can have a greater chance of reaching its highest potential.
We want to help improve the quality of life for youth and families through advocacy, education and support services. In so doing, we hope to create ambassadors that will demonstrate leadership, confidence, integrity and good stewardship practice for better society.
