  Richard Ritter

I studied Fine Arts at Hofstra University, New York in 1993 with a concentration in Photography.  I studied under Hugh Rogers, the apprentice of the great photographer: Bernice Abbott.  My other professors included artists associated with the Pop Art culture of the 1960's.  After graduation, I worked in a professional photography studio doing just about everything from making deliveries and processing film to setting up studio shoots and shooting large format photographs. I soon found out that attention to detail and attentive customer service are a formula for success.

Since my early beginnings, I have worked as an architectural photographer, wedding photographer, portrait photographer, concert and event photographer and sculptor.  I have made the progression from using film and bulky equipment to becoming streamlined with the use of digital equipment and light accessories.  Work has increased in a more creative manner, but the process has become much easier.

I have shown my work in both the US and in Europe.  As I continue to develop as an artist, my work reflects my increased artistic vision and maturity.  Self exploration is my greatest teacher.  If you don't challenge yourself continuously, your vision becomes stagnant and art becomes work, and not the other way around.
