Where do we start

The best way to determine the price of the mural is to give us as much information as possible. Cost of mural is based on style, subject matter, level of difficulty, location and size. Usually we make discount on big projects.

The first step to commissioning a mural is getting an estimate.

Where do we start? Contact us via e-mail or call and we will send you a free estimate. The more information we wilI receive  the more accurate the estimate will be.

1. First step, If you are happy with the estimate and you are ready to go with it then we should meet in person if possible to discuss the details. No charges if you are located in Long Island, NY or Manhattan. We would get the idea of the requirements and for your mural project and see the space. We work very closely with our customers especially during the beginning phases.  We will help you define the mural and will offer suggestions as to the best way to achieve the results you want.

2. Next step, we will prepare a preliminary proposal with a final cost, a rough scale mural design sketch (usually black and white drawing) and a payment schedule. Once a design is agreed, more detailed and informative color samples are created.

3.
On that stage we should have a clear understanding of the mural design, due dates, all costs and payment terms. We would sign a final contract incorporating these details, which protects both you and us. We require a non-refundable deposit to be paid at that time, this deposit will be deducted from the final total. Small project payments are usually 50% upon contract signing and 50% upon completion. Large projects are divided into 3-4 payments.

Color final scaled designs are part of the contract and must be signed off on before work on the final mural begins.

4. Then the work on project starts! Murals can be painted on site or on thin canvas ( that can be easily installed on the wall like wallpaper) and shipped to the site for installation, or we can install it for an additional cost.

If we are working on the mural in our studio, we will photograph the mural in progress  and e-mail the images for you to review. That way questions or issues can be dealt with quickly and directly.

Project Changes

There are times when you may want to request changes to the design or details. It is natural and we are very flexible to honor change requests that do not substantially increase work hours or material costs. However, adding more detail or changing work that is already in process almost always increases the time we spend on the mural. The best protection against change is to have a fairly complete understanding of and agreement to the project before signing the contract.

In the event that changes are requested that substantially alter work hours or material prices, we will have to agree to a contract amendment with price changes. We will base price changes solely on time and material changes to the contract at roughly the same rates quoted in the original contract.

For free estimates call 516 220 8551 or e-mail rlystvak@yahoo.com with project details.

We would need to know:

1. Commercial or residential? what is the excess time, during the day, evenings or nights only.

2. What kind of painting / subject matter?  figures, landscapes, architecture, etc.

3. Where are you located? I can give free on-site consultations in New York ( Manhattan) and Long Island.

4. What is your time frame?

5. What is the wall  size?  Include height & width

6. What is the wall surface shape? e.g. flat, concave, convex, etc.

7. What is the condition of the wall?  e.g. Wallpaper, paint, raw sheetrock, etc.

Please add anything else you think is relevant - the more details you can give me; the more accurate the quote.

In addition to the square footage fee, any or all of the following items could increase the cost of the mural. These are things that I may add to your quote if I feel they are applicable - nobody likes surprises!

  • Location / distance from studio (travel fees, etc.)
  • Availability of space (e.g. only available at night, etc.)
  • Design changes fees (Changes to the mural during execution that were not part of the approved design sample will be billed at $100 per hour)
  • Special rental equipment (scaffold, etc.)
  • Wall surface preparation (necessary only on older walls)
  • Architect or interior design commissions/ markups
  • Taxes
  • Travel, hotel
  • Special materials (not including paint or canvas, that is part of the square footage quote)
  • Canvas installation*
  • Shipping Costs
