Are you in a dieting mode? Who isn't!

4/24/09

I belong to a group cvall ed TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). Its a support group who help and encourage one another.  We have some great programs on how and what to do to lose weight and exercise.  We talk about nutrition, different ways to exercise and have great competitons to see who can drop the most weight in 4-6 weeks and the winners get a prize thats well worth the effort.

We also have songs we sing and lots of support with uplifting thoughts and comments.  Our group is a wonderful bunch of people who really care about one another.  We have banquets and awards, all food carefully chosen to be nutritous, low in fat and calories.  We have come up with some wonderful recipes as result.

We also have our fun walks together and jokes even tho some re silly we are serious about helping each other with weight loss.  Its a great program and there is one in every community somewhere.  Speakrs are welcome.  We have an angel chossen by the group, a queen for the most weight lost for the year or a king or both.  An inspiration award and recognition for the most awsome person who has gone out of his or her way to help others.  So if you need that exta boost to get some pounds off check your local TOPS out.

And remember:  Watching your weight is easy but taking it off is whats hard!  With support from others you can do it.

Galvanic Spa II

4/22/09

You will be amazed at the results of using the alvanic Spa to look younger and fresher especially if you want a potrait painted of you.  A great Mom's Day gift to make her feel like a queen.  It so simple its a matter of putting gel on the troubled spots then use the hand held Galvanic Spa II for 5 minutes for pulling out the impurities and a second 5 minutes to clean out the rest and treat the skin to a healthier glow.  I was so amazed 10 minutes after my first treatment that the fine lines were almost gone.

Give it a try and I will be glad to demo for you.

NATURAL HEALTH - HERBAL/ REFLEXOLOGY

10/21/08

One of my passions is to see people understand natural treatments and therapies.  I saw my dad die of kidney faliure because of all the drugs he was on and decided then and there  there has to be a better way.  That is when I studied through Clayton College of Natural Health recieving my Master Herbalist Certificate and a year later Certification in reflexology from Seattle Reflexology and Massage Center.  The room we added on for my mother to live with us became my therapy room after she died.

My mom was drug free when she died as we used natural medicine I made from herbs I grew here at Serenity Herb Gardens.  She had a much better quality of life with a clear head and no liver or kidney problems.  For that we are grateful.  Now I would like to work with those with weight problems such as I have, working with a local doctor for any emergency needs.  Its my belief that both conventional and natural healers should work together to make available both types of treatments when neccesary

The photo is one I took at Bastyr University a scool of natural medicine in Bothell.  It is a reflexology path built by Elizabeth Maritz and it has wonderful healing effects just by walking on the rocky path.  After 2 months blood pressures have dropped considerably.  It is another way reflexology can work on body health.  I use reflexoloy to help in the healing of many areas of the body through hands, feet and ears by pressure point..

I have a 82 year old client that has been coming for reflexology for the past 2 moths every other week.  She was diagnosed with failing kidneys and siatic problems.  She was about to go to classes to learn about dialysis and her sciatic problems were gone.  They told her she didn't need dialysis and kidney funtion is improving.  They told her to continue to do what ever she was doing.  I had encouraged her to get off all the medication she was on excetp only what she absolutely had to have.  Also encouraged her to eat healthy foods and get plenty of exercise.  It take a combination of things in order to correct a long range problem.  She has told many about the reflexology and I have 3 more clients so far as result.  Reflexology works on the whole body as the nerve endings go to the feet, hands and ears and by pressing on certain points toxins are released and healing begins.

Just a little tip for this weather that brings on cold, bronchitis, flue and other cold weather ailments, I use an equal amout of goldenseal, echinacea, milk thistle and astragulus. (15 t 30 drops every 4 hours in tincture form)  Goldenseal is an antibiotic, echinacea fights infection, milk thistle aids the liver in getting rid of toxins ad astragulus is an immune builder.  This not only heals the body but by using natural plants, roots and seeds it teaches your body how to heal itself.

EVENTS=2009

10/21/08

As time goes on, events local and sometimes distant events, will be posted concerning ART and Quilting.  Two of my passions as well as GARDENING, TRAVELING and ADVENTURES.  So keep checkig in and I will try to have someting new as it comes in.

The little fella in the salt watepicture is in Prince William Sound south of Seward, Alaska.  He is actually quite large for a sea otter and very friendly.  I couldn't resist taking his picture as he was grooming himself lazily floating about.

I am expanding my studio into a more functional work area with more storage and a place to show my work.

I'm hoping to get started soon so I can explore a new media using fabric, paper and more materials with paints.  I have beautiful trees about me to put on canvas using threads ect. Will try to put a photo up as soon as I get one done.

I have been pealing a little bark off  very large Cedar tree and using my meat pounder sftening the bark to use on a painting.  The forest is so valuable I wanted to honor the cedar tree first then go from there.  The painting will have other forest plants and ground cover so hopefully will look like a heavy forested area.

I started to clean out my dog kennels behind my studio and decised o expand my working area for art.  My husband is a train buff and went to train mountain in Oregon leaving me home alone.  Well that went over like lead balloon.  I decided to hire an art student from our local high school to help me renovate my original studio.  We took everything out and he painted the whole room and the covered outside wall where the kennels were.  When my husband got home he had quite a project to do closing in 2 walls extending the roof and room out 2 feet.  Its done nd I have moved in.  I bought the gallery hanging system, no more nails in the wall.  The original gallery is the viewing room and the addition is my work room, I love it.  Lots of storage for art supplies and more.

Friends from Arizona came and helped to do a lot also, what a blessing they are.  I will try to get a pix to put in soon.

Wow! We made it,I have moved into my revised studio now a veiwing room, and workshop-storage area.  My hisband put up the gallery hanging system.  NO MORE NAILS! YES!  I call it my veiwing room even tho I will still paint in there at the big teachers desk.  The backroom has all the things I will need to create the different medias I am interesting in.  Our friends left today after a month and we are going to miss them, they were a big help in our building projct.  Cameron, the high school art student, now to college (art School), painte almost all the out side of the building.  I need to do the trim and its about ready to show.

We have an art show coming up September 18-20 in Stanwood at the Floyd Noorgard during and in conjuntion with the Harvest Festival.  So come and see all the hard work the artest have done.
