As time goes on, events local and sometimes distant events, will be posted concerning ART and Quilting. Two of my passions as well as GARDENING, TRAVELING and ADVENTURES. So keep checkig in and I will try to have someting new as it comes in.
The little fella in the salt watepicture is in Prince William Sound south of Seward, Alaska. He is actually quite large for a sea otter and very friendly. I couldn't resist taking his picture as he was grooming himself lazily floating about.
I am expanding my studio into a more functional work area with more storage and a place to show my work.
I'm hoping to get started soon so I can explore a new media using fabric, paper and more materials with paints. I have beautiful trees about me to put on canvas using threads ect. Will try to put a photo up as soon as I get one done.
I have been pealing a little bark off very large Cedar tree and using my meat pounder sftening the bark to use on a painting. The forest is so valuable I wanted to honor the cedar tree first then go from there. The painting will have other forest plants and ground cover so hopefully will look like a heavy forested area.
I started to clean out my dog kennels behind my studio and decised o expand my working area for art. My husband is a train buff and went to train mountain in Oregon leaving me home alone. Well that went over like lead balloon. I decided to hire an art student from our local high school to help me renovate my original studio. We took everything out and he painted the whole room and the covered outside wall where the kennels were. When my husband got home he had quite a project to do closing in 2 walls extending the roof and room out 2 feet. Its done nd I have moved in. I bought the gallery hanging system, no more nails in the wall. The original gallery is the viewing room and the addition is my work room, I love it. Lots of storage for art supplies and more.
Friends from Arizona came and helped to do a lot also, what a blessing they are. I will try to get a pix to put in soon.
Wow! We made it,I have moved into my revised studio now a veiwing room, and workshop-storage area. My hisband put up the gallery hanging system. NO MORE NAILS! YES! I call it my veiwing room even tho I will still paint in there at the big teachers desk. The backroom has all the things I will need to create the different medias I am interesting in. Our friends left today after a month and we are going to miss them, they were a big help in our building projct. Cameron, the high school art student, now to college (art School), painte almost all the out side of the building. I need to do the trim and its about ready to show.
We have an art show coming up September 18-20 in Stanwood at the Floyd Noorgard during and in conjuntion with the Harvest Festival. So come and see all the hard work the artest have done.
