I am an artist. I live, breathe and feel art everyday. Art is my inner world of dreams, fantasies and exploration. Art is everywhere. Being an artist is learning how to see; how to perceive, how to enlighten, how to evoke. Originally born in NYC my current studio is situated on a lake outside of Chicago. Having exhibited and sold work throughout the major metropolis my art reaches many levels, from small intimate works to large commissioned murals. I am a professor of art history, a performance artist, a musician, an actress, and a dancer. But most of all I am a lover. A lover of life, beauty and the untouched in this life we are given.
In 2008 I was accepted into Agora Gallery in the Chelsea district in NYC and was accepted in The NY Biennale 2009. I have been exhibiting in Chicago's River North District at Gallerie MK since December 2009 through present 2011. In June of 2008 I exhibited in the Fulton Market Gallery District in Robert Wayner’s Black Walnut Gallery, and had a solo show at Oxala FIne Art Gallery in the Pilsen District. The Chicago Reader printed my painting "Aphrodite" in the Art section announcing the opening of my solo show. In 2010 The painting "cigarette overlooking city" was printed in the newspaper announcing The Chicago Art Open at the River East Gallery District.
I paint many different genres. From Landscapes, to abstracts, to nudes, to portraits, to still lives, to full scale murals. I have a series of sepia toned Renaissance oil paintings that incorporate the pigment burnt umber. The selection of monochrome is arresting. An image reveals itself without the luxury of a full palette. The pigment burnt umber recalls the hue attained from the ruins of Pompeii to Renaissance drawings. These Sepia works regenerate themselves, evolve and fade into mysterious imagery. The burnt umber applied with washes of turpentine reveals drippings, and cracks to uncover a process of decay. The delicate subtlety of the drawings are given strength and permanence in the medium of oil, yet they retain the fragility of the dust they come from creating dreamlike interludes.
