Middleton Place Chapel, Oil

This is a little study I did in oil from a visit to Middleton Place, a preserved plantation near Charleston, South Carolina. What a sad and mellow place. This tiny chapel was evocative of so many things to me, and I wondered what it had seen. You can see out the window into another time, as it were, and the interior was so quiet and solemn, with simple furnishings. I'll have to do a larger painting of this, maybe some time.
