Tanya Brown was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia and is mother to a nine-year-old girl. She has always had a talent for drawing and painting, but life went in other directions, as life will. She kept her abilities honed by doing privately commissioned portraits over the years. How many times had she heard, “You should really do something with your artwork, you’re very good.”? As fate would have it, an opportunity to do just that presented itself. A second chance, so to speak. Seizing the moment, Tanya enrolled in a 3D Animation course by way of distance education. She was able to find that difficult balance between being a full-time student and a full-time mother. One year later she graduated on the President’s list. She quickly decided to take another course specializing in video game art. The transition from pencil and paper to stylus and tablet was a seamless one and she excelled at digital art.
She has developed a passion for games of all types and enjoys spending time with her daughter, whether it’s knocking her off the track on the Xbox or steadying her on her bike. She is soon to graduate and is thrilled at the prospect of beginning a career doing the artwork she always wanted to in the ever-growing and exciting field of video games. Her motto in life is, “Do what you love and love what you do.”
