Who Am I?

Well, to quote the Beatles:
“I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.”

I really don't know what I am because I have been nothing for so long. The last time I really cared about politics, was in the early 80's and I was a Regan Republican.

Just the facts.

Since then I have meandered, seeking meaning in my own life and in which political candidate or movement would suit my evolution at the time. And I have been all over the map.

I am an artist, and maybe a little too sensitive. I am an ex-firefighter and I was in NYC on 9/11/01 and I worked in the recovery at Ground Zero.

I've had business success and failure and I know what it's like to be both wealthy and poor.

I am divorced after 18 years of marriage with 3 children and I have had extreme degrees of both success and failure there too.

I work now as an artist and photographer and I've made a couple of short, insignificant films. I am struggling to keep my head above water like so many others.

I love, I laugh, I cry.

I am a different person than I was 20 years ago, softened, maybe jaded but I haven't given-up trying and I want to be a better person each day.

A Socialist? No. I don't think so. And I don't pretend to understand the complexity of governing large masses of people. I was born and raised in America so I thought I knew what a democratic Republic was. I just don't think we are that any more.

There are too many laws and systems designed to limit personal freedom and growth and then to exploit that for the good of too few at the epitome of the spectrum of wealth.

The working class is the engine of a successful society and the working class is being abused in the highest offices of government and corporate business. This I believe.

I want an end to these current wars. I want to be proud of my government again, knowing we do not torture, we do not falsely imprison, that we do not subvert or cover the truth, we do not operate in darkness as darkness all the while wearing the noble banner of light. I want an end to the waste, the abuse and exploitation of the environment. I want a decency to return to our standards for living and a understanding that all men are created equal.
