painting outdoors

April 26, 2009

I love to paint outdoors.  Spring and fall are the very best times of year for plein aire painters.  There is so much color and so little time.  Yesterday I painted at Bob Tanner's home on the banks of the Olentangy River south of Delaware.   There were about 20 of us painting in various spots around the property.   It was a glorious day.  The morning light created long shadows and made the white bark of the old sycamore pop against the blue sky.  It was a morning made for artists and for anyone else with an eye for nature's canvases.

Melodie ThompsonI love the ambience in this painting between the cool and warm colors. It makes me want to walk into the setting you have created - very nice!
