It’s always a beautiful day in the neighborhood when you are in Capitola. Some days are more beautiful than others. Some days are gray and windy, but still very very beautiful.
This painting captures the bay at it’s best, sparkling blue skies and a healthy vibrant green water with waves breaking on golden sands. The Capitola Wharf, in one form or another has been there since the 1850’s. It’s been wiped out periodically by ferocious storms and it’s quite a weird feeling when the waves scrape the bottom of the restaurant you’re eating in.
Painted by local artguy, Vern Scharf, with French acrylics over a 4 by 12 stretched eight ounce cotton duck gallery wrap canvas, and coated with multiple coats of acrylic varnishes to protect the view for generations to come.
