About myself:
I was born in Laos and grew up in Russia.
Focusing
on a media career, I studied and graduated as director of film and TV making
from Krustyo Sarafov National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, Sofia,
Bulgaria.
I
have since worked as a freelance documentary film maker with a long track
record from successfully completed film projects for many notable clients.
Constantly
searching to find new and alternative ways to express my artistic ambitions, I
discovered and took an interest in the unique, difficult and time consuming art
of traditional Vietnamese lacquer painting, when moving from Laos to Hanoi, the cultural centre of Vietnam.
I started
taking lessons at the Lacquer Tree in Hanoi under the tutorship of Nguyen Huy Hoan, with
supplementary advice being given by Trinh Tuan, both accomplished artists, who
patiently imparted to me their vast skills and experience, which in time benefited
me sp as to enable me to work on my own.
I
paint in a free style with a hint of abstract impressionism, reducing the
subject to its essential form by elimination of details, with emphasis on colours
that I endeavour to use to maximum effect. My favourite themes are nature,
women, moods and love but I keep my mind open to other sources of inspiration.
Having
dedicated several years to the process of learning to paint using lacquer on
board, I am now seeking to extend the range of my skills by experimenting with
acrylic and oil on canvas.
I
am one of few female Lao artists and possibly the only one using lacquer. I
invite you to follow the link to my paintings, and judge my art for yourself!
My work
has so far been sold to private collectors in Europe, Vietnam and Singapore.
