Drawing is the oldest art form of human beings. It is human nature to create and to express. By nature, I started drawing ever since I grasped a pencil. And, luckily, it has been my wonderful part of life. I feel released, completed with art creation.
EDUCATION
I picked up most skills by my own experiments. I went to several private tutors for basic classical training. I also went to UCLA Extention for nude model study. My graduate study of architecture also embodied my philosophy toward art. But, most of all, Nature, I believe, is my best teacher. It is the three years' stay in Oregon that truly opened up my eyes to really learn from nature.
FOCUS
I believe art should be expressive. And, in fact, it is one of the very few fields that allow endless ways of expression, even surrealistic, informel, abstract, ...etc. Therefore, I am toward abstract expressionism. However, I also believe that symbols or some common images are great magic bridges between viewers and artists. It is our privilege to use these visual languages. So, I like art that is abstract enough to be expressive, and yet, with some common images that lead viewers to imagine, linger, or even fly in the artistic world.
