The Day After

11/24/06

Today is the day after Thanksgiving and I'm still going over all of the things in my life that I'm thankful for.....
I have really "true" friends who care for me in spite of anything stupid that I might do. They understand that I'm human and have a tendancy to make mistakes.

I'm thankful for my health (such as it is) because I feel that if I can wake up in the morning and get out of bed, then I have my health.

Wealth...that's another story. I don't have much money, but I have enough to get me by. I stuggle at times, but I don't live in a cardboard box under a bridge....therefore, I have wealth.

Memories are in abundance and I am thankful for each and every one of them. There are good memories and bad memories, but each and every one of them is the collage that makes me who I am.

The list could go on and on, but just know that I'm thankful for life...my life and the joys that being alive bring me.

Thank you Randy, Phil, Dee and Karen for being in my life and making it worth living.

New Black & White Gallery

11/21/06

I've started setting up my new "black/white" gallery page this morning and I'm excited to get photos of all the new pieces in the gallery for all of you to see. So far I only have two pictures, but hopefully by the weekend I'll have 2 or 3 more.
Enjoy my adventure into the world of BLACK AND WHITE

Monday Already

11/20/06

Had a very productive weekend and made the most of the time I had. Finished one painting and started another.
Have to get photos....make that number one on my list of things to do this week.

Working in black and white (my latest projects) has been fun. I've been able to do 5 different paintings and not one is like any of the others. My challenge now is to continue this series without duplicating anything. This is where I have to dig deep into my mind and pull out ideas that have long been buried. Now is the time to be creative and let "all" of the juices flow.

My friend Randy had a comment on his site this morning and I totally agree with the woman who wrote it. The painting in question does remind me of water.....I'm going to have to study that one closer.

Everyone....have a good week and a Happy Thanksgiving.

Not Enough Time

11/17/06

This week has been another example of "time". Too much to do and not enough time to do it in.
Long days at my "real" job.

Long nights trying to paint and add to my art collection.

Short nights...not getting enough sleep.

Now that I'm getting older and time is racing by so quickly, I get angry that I can't do everything that I want to do. I rush around to make time to be with friends. I rush around trying to get all of my work done at the office. I push and push my art trying to get as much painting into a 24 hour period as possible. Then my body says "stop" and I've got to get some sleep. I'm too old to keep up this kind of a schedule.

My mind is full of exciting new ideas for art, but I can't seem to find the time to even begin many projects, much less have finished pieces.

Right now, I have one thing that is keeping me going and that is an upcoming break from my routine and a trip to visit a friend. On December 1, I'm going to Pennsylvania to spend a few days with my oldest friend and her family. This will be some well deserved down time for me and I'm really looking forward to the R & R.

New Project

11/15/06

I've decided that I want to do a series of paintings using just two colors, but in different styles and textures. My hope is to create about 10 pieces using black and white paint only. With all of the varieties you can get with black and white....this should be a fun adventure.
Two pieces are already done (photos to follow later) and the third is about 1/2 finished.

Who knows, this may lead to a whole new direction in my work. Only time will tell.

NOTE FROM A FRIEND

11/11/06

The following is an email I received this morning from a man who is short on words when speaking face to face, but can really express himself in writing.......thank you for being my friend
"Have you ever wondered if you might
not wake tomorrow?
What would happen?
Who would be around?
I was thinking about that tonight...
and just want to thank you for being you.
Your hard work.
Your friendship.
Your being.

There's a reason Phil said "Love ya,"
and that's because Rosie's are
few are far between.

And Phil and I appreciate having
a friend and sister that we do
not have to explain to anyone else.
We can't fill your deepest dreams
and desires. We can only support
you in chasing them.

You probably saved my life in March.
Now you just inspire me.

Isn't it incredible when people find you
"special"?

Now go to bed, bitch.

Love ya,
Randy"

Where is the time going???

11/9/06

It's already Thursday and I don't feel that I've accomplished anything this week.
Granted, I've been busy with work and my art, but it just seems that there aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done.

I've even started setting my alarm one hour earlier, just to get more "quiet" time on the computer and more time to let my creative juices flow before getting all wrapped up in the routine of daily life.

This morning I was looking back thru my finished pieces and found one that I thought would be fun to share with everyone. Unfortunately it's sold, but i thought it was still worth looking at.

Enjoy the color and breathe in the life of "Pink".

Tonight's the BIG Night

11/3/06

I'm on pins and needles because tonight is the opening of my show at the Hibernia Dental Arts Gallery. This is probably one of the biggest things to happen to me (in a positive way) in a very loooooong time.
Of course, sleep was at a premium last night, but I did manage to get a few hours of good R.E.M.

Randy, my friend and fellow artist, has been a bulldog on promotions and there is no way I can thank him enough for his extreme efforts. I hope he knows how much I appreciate him, both as a work partner, business partner and painting partner.

......thanks Randy for everything.......

Good news on another front.. Jim, another painting buddy, seems to be feeling better......YIPPEE!!!!!

Jim also has a show opening tonight at the Uptown Visions Gallery. If anyone who reads this knows Jim and is in the area tonight....go see his incredible work.

I'm a little sad because two of my favorite people won't be in town, so they'll miss my opening tonight. Oh well, you can't have it all.
