The foundation of California Flower Art Academy
goes back to 1990. We engage in teaching Ikebana arrangement in the San Francisco Bay Area (Burlingame, San Mateo County close to San Francisco Airport) and Silicon Valley (San Jose close to Cupertino, Santa Clara County) by offering various programs as introduced below:
Our unique hands on training of ONE ON ONE instructions (semi private lesson) greatly helps beginner students easily and quickly earn practical skills of Ikebana arrangement. We limit number of students to no more than 4 per class (typically 2 to 3 students per class) in order to implement person to person training.
You can enjoy friendly instruction by our experienced certified instructor who is licensed in Japan with more than 30 year experience in teaching Ikebana. Since Ikebana requires precise and detail oriented skill, it is a little bit difficult for ordinary people to earn a decent skill UNLESS the instructor is talented and well experienced .
Ikebana is a profound Japanese traditional floral art with a long history. There are a variety of ways of making Ikebana arrangement, among which Moribana Arrangement
and Nageire Arrangement
are quite well known. Students usually start with Moribana which uses Kenzan
(Frog: Needlepoint holder to hold flowers) and Suiban
(shallow container specifically designed for Moribana arrangement) that are typical tools used for Ikebana arrangement.
If you love flowers and have interest in Japanese traditional culture, why not learn Ikebana ? Those who learned Ikebana long time ago and would like to resume learning it, we recommend to take a lesson of Ikebana Arrangement Refresh Program
. Those who already have a skill of American or European floral arrangement are also recommended to learn Ikebana so they can earn totally different style of floral art.
We can find lots of Japanese floral artists who have skills of both Ikebana and European floral art. They have advantage of blending both arts and create unique floral designs that cannot be done by other artists. If you are interested in learning Ikebana, why not join California Flower Art Academy
