During a Christmas Season, New Year's decorations are under preparations in Japan. This decoration is called "Kadomatsu
" that is mainly made of bamboos and pine trees. The photo is from Wikipedia. This pictures shows a typical Kadomatsu that used to be displayed in front of many homes, stores and office buildings. Although this traditional customs are getting less popular as far as regular home decorations are concerned, we can still find lots of stores and office buildings display Kadomatsu
during a New Year holiday season. Incidentally most offices are closed from Dec 28 through Jan 3 in Japan.
It is a little bit difficult to make Kadomatsu. Therefore most people depend on professional expert for making Kadomatsu. Besides Kadomatsu, we have another traditional decoration that is and displayed for New Year's holiday season. This is called Shimekazari
that is also prepared towards the end of the year. There are two kinds of Shimekazari. One is designed for being mounted on the front entrance door of home and office. Another one is car mounted type Shimekazari
