The photo shows one of flower arrangements made by our student in the classroom during a real lesson. The arrangement was done under the direction of our instruction, This is also L Shape arrangement although it does not look like that only because this photo was not taken from a right angle. This arrangement happened to be done using a vertical vase. However many of L shaped design is made with a shallow container.
California Flower Art Academy
always teaches floral designs by way of hands on training of ONE ON ONE instructions. Actually this is a semi private lesson limiting number of students to no more than 4 per class (typically 2 to 3 per class). We used to have up to 6 students per class. However judging from our past experience, we came to know that once it exceeds 4 students per class it was extremely difficult to provide sufficient hands on training satisfactory to both students and our instructor.
Quite frankly speaking the most ideal way of instruction is a pure private lesson based on one student to one instructor. However it involves a higher amount of running cost which makes it impossible for us to offer a pure private lesson. The compromised way is to offer semi private lesson at affordable prices which CAN minimize financial burden on our students. Due to sharp increase of classroom rental fee, labor cost, gasoline and flower materials during the past 10 years, we were obliged to make adjustment of lesson fees which had been remaining unchanged for a long period of time.
Getting back to semi private lesson, due to the nature of floral arrangement training which is totally different from learning history on the book, we do believe that ONE ON ONE instruction is the most ideal way which makes it possible to make interactive communication on real time basis between students and instructor. Students can raise questions whenever they need and instructor can offer a timely advice and instruction whenever student makes a mistake without which we cannot expect our students to properly develop their skills.
