These photos show 3D (3 dimensional) European decoupage art made by our student during a real lesson of our school. In America, similar art is known as shadow box arts. However there is a big difference between 3D European decoupage originated in Europe and American style Shadow Box Art.
California Flower Art Academy
has a division of European decoupage and Shadow Box art. At the moment, only limited number of students from Japan are learning this particular art. In order to make this 3D art, detail oriented and highly skillful manipulation of materials are required. If artist's fingers are too big, it is quite difficult to make this art. In this sense Asian people MIGHT have much less difficulties in making 3D decoupage art.
Even now, decoupage art is used for decorating the surface of furniture manufactured in France and Italy. The same technology is used for decorating a jewelry box and sometimes soap displayed in the powder room. 3D Shadow Box Art adopts this technology. We use pictures of beautiful scenery, flowers and some other natural views available in Europe. For making 3 dimensional art, we use multi-layer papers of beautiful view and pictures.
