These Ikebana arrangements were made by our students under instructions of our Ikebana instructor during real lessons in the classroom of California Flower Art Academy.
These are Ikebana arrangements. The left one is made according to Nageire style using an Ikebana vase. The right one is what is called Moribana style using Kenzan and Suiban. Both designs are simple and neatly arranged. While asymmetrical way of arrangements are seldom found in European floral art, we can often find asymmetrical arrangements in the world of Ikebana arrangement.
Once in a while we find a student who wants to take lessons for both Ikebana and European arrangements. Of course if a floral artist has a skill of both Japanese and European arrangement , it is quite ideal. And by doing so, they can fully understand the difference between these two floral arts. Our school has been teaching European floral art and Japanese Ikebana since 1990 in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Mateo) and Silicon Valley (San Jose). We have lots of accumulated know-how's and secrets in both floral arts.
