Flower designs can be divided into two groups. One is symmetrical arrangement and the other is asymmetrical one. The majority of flower designs is
Symmetrical Arrangement. However we sometimes find asymmetrical arrangement. Due to its shape, it is a little bit difficult to make asymmetrical arrangement because the design of each half is different. If you are familiar with Ikebana, you MAY have already recognized that there are so many asymmetric designs in Ikebana arrangements. Or we COULD say the majority of Ikebana design is based on asymmetric way of arrangement.
Under mentioned type of designs can be said to fall in the category of asymmetric arrangement:
Ikebana adopts line arrangement as its design concept in a sense. Therefore Ikebana arrangement is quite suitable for making asymmetric designs. Unlike symmetric arrangement, asymmetric design offers somewhat different atmosphere and due to its shape, such arrangement can attract viewers' attention.
