The left side design is a Japanese traditional floral arrangement called Ikebana whilethe right arrangement is European floral design. Both of them were made by our students in the classroom of California Flower Art Academy under the direction of our instructors.
People who are not familiar with floral arrangements or floral designs sometimes do not have idea about which style of flower arrangement they should learn, European style or Japanese Ikebana ? It depends on the purpose of learning flower arrangements. If you want to learn floral arrangements for doing flower business in the United States, we definitely recommend you to learn European floral arrangements. On the other hand if you are interested in Japanese culture and the purpose of learning floral art is strictly for hobby, we recommend Ikebana. Namely the skill of Ikebana arrangement cannot be used (or seldom used) for doing business in the States. Therefore those who want to learn for business are definitely recommended to learn European style of arrangement which can be used not only for hobby but also for business.
For those who have no idea about the choice and selection of programs/courses, here is a Course Selection Guide
. Please read the descriptions in this guide and make a decision accordingly. If you still have any questions, please contact us by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org California Flower Art Academy offers programs for both types of designs as introduced below:
A. European style:
B. Japanese style (Ikebana):
None of these courses for Ikebana arrangement are designed for educating students to become Ikebana instructors. The curriculum of these Ikebana courses is modified and simplified so that it can be well accepted by local people in the United States. The original curriculum of Ikebana arrangement adopted in Japan has much more contents and the length of course is much longer. In order to complete the original Japanese curriculum used in Japan, students are required to spend a few years.
