These Ikebana arrangements were made by our students under the instructions of our Ikebana teachers during real lessons in the classroom of California Flower Art Academy.
California Flower Art Academy offers a
Wide Range of Programs from Japanese Traditional Ikebana Arrangement to European Floral Designs. Therefore we have various types of students. Some of them like
Japanese Ikebana. Some of them prefer
European style arranging. However we have never found a student who likes Ikebana but does not like European floral designs, vice versa.
The main reason behind selecting either Ikebana or European designs is whether the skill can be used for doing floral business in this country or not. Many students who are learning European designs have a keen interest in OR small possibility of making the best use of their skill for doing floral business in the future or utilizing their skill for party decoration, gift or volunteer works. The skill for European style floral arrangements does have a much wider range of possibilities and potentials than that of Ikebana arts. Namely regardless of the purpose of learning floral designs, for hobby or for business, they can use the skill of European flower arrangement.
Now talking about people who like Ikebana, majority of people who learn Ikebana are interested in Japanese traditional cultures among which Ikebana is one of them.
None of them has intentions of using their skill for doing floral business in the United States (And actually it is almost impossible to use Ikebana skill for floral business in the United States). Instead they would like to be closer to Japanese traditional floral art which is called Ikebana.
What else reason for them to have interest in Ikebana besides having interest in Japanese culture ? Another reason COULD be that those who already learned regular floral arrangement (European or American) MAY find a hint or clue for finding something new in their floral designs from learning a different style of floral arrangement called Ikebana. Actually we find some floral artists who is creating quite unique flower arrangements by blending both skills, European and Japanese styles.
I hope you understand what I mean from my redundant and poor English article.
