Art Notes: Silk Scarves

Fish Kimono
To get an eyeful of the scarves I am creating from my photographic images, browse through the Scarves Gallery.  The more popular ones are taken from flowers and from tropical fish.

I have been doing some market research among my friends and they decide what they like on the basis of color (what goes with their wardrobe and looks good against their skin) and design.

If you look carefully at the designs, you will see that they are also symmetrical patterns.  Some are square (36 x 36) and others are oblong (approximately 15 x 65).

I have been searching the internet for companies that can manufacture the scarves for a reasonable price.  I may have to go to Korea or China.  When I find a manufacturer, I will be talking to museums and botanical gardens and aquariums to place my designs in their gift shops.

Let me know (DanaBet@yahoo.com) if you are interested in purchasing any of the designs. They will soon be available from my website in limited editions and are signed by me.

Here are two of my more unusual patterns.  Tree Bark really is one image of the bark of a tree, reproduced three times. And Shadows and Wrought Iron Fence is a photograph I took on the porch of an historic house in Athens, Georgia which I duplicated four times to form the pattern you see.
