"All conflict comes from attachment."

–Anthony de Mello

Once, meandering through Connemara, County Galway, Ireland, I was making my way along the lake shore near Kylemore Abbey.  This little boat was tugging at its tethered line and it reminded me of how we are all "attached" to our thoughts, our home, our possessions and how we really become those thoughts in our own individual way.   I suppose true happiness is causeless. It occurred to me that if something causes me happiness, I will become attached and possessive of that thing. I will become anxious, lest I lose it.
If I ask the mystic why he or she is happy, the answer will be,

‘why not?’
