About

David Lee Black
David Lee Black ARTIST STATEMENT "Photography is simply a function of noticing things." ~Elliott Erwitt The pilgrimage never ends, but my journey of images touch both the simple and sublime en route. Immersed in the places, people and events that have become my vision and guide, my photographs and sculpture is meant to evoke the emotional and spiritual interactions with the natural moment at hand. I invite you to share in my personal sense of wonder. ~David Lee Black RESUME E DUCATION UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI/COLUMBIA BS Music Education, 1983 TULLALOUGHAUN REIDENCY FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENT County Clare, Ireland 2012, 2014 P ROFESSIONAL E XPERIENCE DAVID A. Requiem for a Tree
Is death another life? I have been photographing "Two Trees" in all four seasons on Mount Pollux, Amherst Massachusetts for over 20 years. Two Trees were stalwarts: sturdy, reliable sources of beauty and cooling shade, together on a mountain overlooking the valley below. I met a woman, we fell in love and she showed me this sacred space for the first time.

"We have all hurt someone tremendously, whether by intent or accident. We have all loved someone tremendously, whether by intent or accident. it is an intrinsic human trait, and a deep responsibility, I think, to be an organ and a blade.
