Celebrating the beauty of nature and the people who preserve it

About

My earliest memories of myself are wielding a crayon, and I have been drawing and painting ever since.  My work is informed by my degree in biology and many years of volunteering in prairie restoration and butterfly monitoring for the Nature Conservancy.  I have been fortunate to have lived in many beautiful places; currently my work revolves around the fragile ecosystems at Illinois Beach State Park and other nature areas in northern Illinois.
Over the years two other loves have vied for my attention, and I am pleased to be weaving them into my work as well.  Horses and gardens have been turning up- I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
I love color, and this is what you will see a lot of in my paintings.  I work in acrylic, which has the look of oil and will last even better.
