Irrational should not be a scary word, or carry mystic connotations.
The ratios "which can not be described" are perfectly clear and simple, it's a quirk of language rather than reason that they don't fit into our naming system . . . .  so why not make up your own names? 
The project here is to construct all the whole number squares (as far as 16? 144?),  thereby also depicting the square roots (relationship of side to area) for all whole numbers.
