 | | I paint from life, sometimes out in the open air, "Plein Aire" and sometimes from memory and reference photographs. Many times I will combine resources to capture the intended subject. |
 | | I am at home near the water. Walking the beach is a renewal process for me. The Pacific Northwest has a mild, wet climate. Water finds it's way into most of my paintings. Wear your boots! |
 | | Acrylics are fun and predictable... unlike watercolors, they stay where you put them! A nice change of pace. |

| The Pacific Northwest is my home. From Oregon originally, I moved to Washington State in 1988, and then to Camano Island, Washington in 2004. We live a casual lifestyle and enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. The subtle colors and sudden changes in light and atmosphere makes painting in a representational style challenging.
Originally from the Northwest, I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful artists. I have been exposed to most art mediums, but took a serious interest in watercolors after discovering Northwest Artist, Charles Mulvey, in the mid seventies. Mulvey, was from the small coastal town of Seaview, Washington. He was a known and collected Northwest Watercolor artist and sparked the talents of some of your most well known and collected artists. He taught his representational style and willingly shared his entire bag of tricks and techniques. Since those first lessons, I have worked with other artists and developed my own style.
